In Sweden, there are over 100,000 premature babies under the age of 18. Each year another 6,500 children are born and the number grows every year. There are major differences in the medical, psychosocial and educational support for these children despite the fact that society is gaining on helping them for life-long health. In connection with the World Premiere Day, an open seminar will be organized by Umeå University, which will highlight, among other things. advances in premature care, health consequences of preterm birth and what to think about as a parent and school staff.
Challenges and opportunities for premature babies in Norrland – research, poetry and what it is like to become an adult, are some of the topics that will be taken up on World Premiere Day in Umeå on November 14 at 3 pm. The seminar is free, and anyone who is curious is welcome.
